Introduction

VectorizeIt was a proof of concept labs project that in its core aimed to deal with what is called “fear of blank canvas” - overcoming the challenge of creating a new blank document and not knowing where to start.
The idea was to be able to photograph a rough manual sketch, and easily convert it to a CAD document as a vector drawing and be able to build on it. In addition to being a mobile raster-to-vector converter (rare or non-existent at the time), it offered tools meant specifically with design or architecture in mind, such as straightening lines, identifying 90 degree angles, perspective correction, and more.

First step of the 3-step process: image adjustment before vectorization
Challenges:

Since this was a small POC, only a few days were allotted for this task. So in only 2-3 days, a workflow was achieved, with simple help documentation and minimal onboarding.

Solutions:
A quick onboarding introduction was made to explain the purpose of the app and its principles.

The user can then choose the input - camera, gallery, or sample images.

Input Selection Screen

Notably, two elements i like in this design are the value-adjustment interaction, in which you can tap one of the parameters, a circular slider appears and an adjustment can be made by dragging up or down.
Secondly, the help interaction, a question mark button that when held down covered the screen with explanations for each knob and button, and disappeared when the user stopped touch.

Tapping and holding a parameter icon brings up a scale and shows the current setting. Dragging up and down would adjust.

Tapping and holding the "?" icon in each screen would
bring up coach marks for each button on screen
Reception:

With no marketing at all, the app gained a few thousand users, and got positive reviews and customer engagement in feature requests. Unfortunately, no further resources were put into it.
