The Challenge:

Videoleap was at the time about to be a new app in the market. It introduces advanced features and innovative design patterns that are not available in other video editing apps. This means a lot of thought needed to be put into communicating the unique value of the app and how to make the most of it.
App Intro Prototype (made with Principle and After Effects)
Process:

I started by mapping the different stages of exposure to the app, from app store, through first launch, to advanced/unusual features, and listing what information might help the user and at what point in time. When usability testing started, these assumptions were validated or adjusted.
A large variety of concepts and ideas were roughly sketched out, which were eventually narrowed down and refined.
Solution:

A standard paged intro was created, highlighting the app capabilities, while demonstrating how these key features can be accessed and activated. While using the app, specific actions would show guiding pop-ups or short videos on first use.
